Strategic Plan

Dear Sirs,
Due to the intense changes of the competitive environment in which the wine sector is included, to wit:

  1. Fall in the level of profitability per hectare
  2. Need to increase farmer’s income levels
  3. Need to increase the level of bottled wine sales
  4. Need to adjust excess production to meet potential demand levels without jeopardising the final prices of the products
  5. Adaptation to new regulations (new Vineyards and Wine Laws, a new situation in the European funds allocation for 2007-2013, “Codex Alimentarius”, which is promoted by the WHO; the “International Code of Enological Practices”, which is promoted by the OIV; etc.)

the Control Board of the Designation of Origin Jumilla has been compelled to address the elaboration of a Strategic Plan in order to face the new competitive scenario with maximum guarantees, as was approved in the Plenary session held on the 30th of May, 2006, in point 4 of the Agenda.

The elaboration of this Strategic Plan has been initiated in recent days, and it is our hope that during the development of its articulation, we may count on your collaboration through the various means of participation (personal interviews, the creation of working tables, and the availability of a suggestion box in order to collect any contributions related to the elaboration of this Strategic Plan) that have been designed in order to turn this plan into a document which combines both the knowledge and experience of all of the members of the Designation of Origin Jumilla.

Soon, you will hear about the Plan’s process of the elaboration. In the meantime, both the Control Board and Deloitte S.L.’s team, who will join us in this strategic reflection exercise, are at your full disposal in order to respond to any queries or suggestions.

We sincerely hope that this Strategic Plan will be successful and that it will benefit all of the members of the Designation of Origin Jumilla.

Yours faithfully,

Miguel Gil Vera

President of the CBDO Jumilla
