XIX JUMILLA WINE QUALITY CONTEST

XIX JUMILLA WINE QUALITY CONTEST
The Designation of Origin Jumilla is located in the Southeast of Spain, a transition area between the Mediterranean Levante coast and the Castilla La Mancha plateau and an area characterised by wide valleys and plains and surrounded by mountains. Its production is covered by two wide areas: the town of Jumilla , in the province of Murcia , in which the Control Board has its headquarters, and the towns and villages of Montealegre del Castillo, Fuenteálamo, Ontur, Hellín, Albatana and Tobarra in the province of Albacete. Between their features, we can stand out the Monastrell grape, which is used in the 90% of wines elaborated by this denomination.

The Wine Quality Contest of Jumilla is realised every year by the Regulatory Council of the DOP of Jumilla. This Contest, in 2013, which celebrates its 19th edition, was born with the idea of encouraging wineries in order to introduce them in the market.

Nowadays, this Contest is the mirror of the DOP Jumilla, because in it, the most of the wineries of the Denomination is taking part of.

Furthermore, coinciding with the Contest celebration, the CRDOP Jumilla is going to appoint the person who will carry out the post of Honor President of the Origin Denomination.
